These jeans are made in Japan by Burgus Plus & Co, a clothing manufacture that strives to make contemporary basic garments inspired by the functionality and culture that created the iconic inspirational garments several decades ago. The word "Ultimate Basics" is what best describes this great brand and their work to create clothes inspired by many different eras, designed to be worn today.

The fabric is the key to make a great pair of jeans and that's also were Burgus Plus starts when designing a new garment. In these jeans the idea is to capture all things related to vintage denim from the middle of the last century, a time when the fabric was loomed to perfection according to many people that have spent time investigating the nature of denim and the history of fabric. Burgus Plus recreates the look and the feeling of vintage denim fabrics and combines it with a more contemporary fit.

These jeans are dyed using Natural Indigo from the plant Indigofera Tinctoria thats grown and extracted in India, in regions that has been dying with natural indigo for centuries. Back in the early days of work jeans in 1850 the denim fabric was dyed with natural indigo, but it was soon replaced by the synthetic indigo that was invented in the same time. Using some natural indigo in the dye process behind this fabric is a homage to early denim history. 

The leather reinforcements in the corner of the back pockets are also a detail associated with the history of workwear, were lots of brands invented their own ways of reinforcing the stress point of denim garments. Seams and leather piece were commonly used during the years when Levi's held the patent for copper rivets, and  Burgus Plus uses both leather reinforcements and rivets! 

Due to the nature of the vintage inspired fabric and the fact that these jeans are washed once they have a so called leg-twist. This means that the seams are slightly twisted, an effect caused by the fact that the unsanforized denim fabric relaxed and moves a little after the first wash. The fabric strives towards the same direction as the twill weave, a detail much loved by people with a passion for vintage jeans.

Hemming is always included when you purchase a pair of jeans from us! Give us a comment during check out and we will shorten them before we send them. Keep in mind that you won't be able to return the jeans if we alter the length for you.
